STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Patrick O’Rourke swings open the red, antique Dutch door of the Thatch Pub and offers a hearty “cead mile failte.” It’s Gaelic — the old Irish way of saying a hundred thousand welcomes — and O’Rourke means it. All who enter his charming roaming tavern are greeted with a grin and a Guinness. After all, this smallish white-washed, thatched-roof cottage is an extension of his home.

Galway native Patrick O’Rourke’s new ‘mobile’ Irish pub is already proving a smash hit for parties in New York just weeks after its big launch.

67-year-old Patrick, who is originally from New Inn in County Galway but now lives in Staten Island, New York, explained to the Irish Independent that The Thatch Pub is a mobile Irish pub anyone can rent for any kind of party.
